"Let them eat cake."
Or not.
Originally I had planned to post a bunch of wedding cake photos to give you an idea of the difference between pretty and tasty. After looking through my files from the last 10 months I realized there's definitely a trend lately that bucks the tradition.
More couples are passing on the traditional cake either replacing it with a wonderful dessert or even an array of amazing options from the best pastry chefs.
As a New Orleans wedding photographer I always look forward to the cake but with this new trend I get a chance to sample so many delicious desserts. Without further ado here are some of the cakes I rounded up. Some are fondant and others with traditional icing. Frankly I am not a fan of fondant cakes as they tend to be high on looks and low on taste.
At a wedding a few years ago I had the best tasting cake ever. When I asked the bride where she found this bundle of joy I was surprised beyond belief. Whole Foods. Yes, Whole Foods Chantilly berry cake. White cake and real whipped frosting with fresh berries. I am certainly not knocking fondant cakes but man they can't hold a candle to this one.
The choice is up to you. If you are looking to save some money and provide a beautiful and delicious cake I'd recommend talking with Whole Foods.
Cakes and Desserts by the following vendors:
An Alternative to Whole Foods if you want to "shop local" is the Gentilly Cake at Rouse's Grocery.
And of course it goes without saying...give me a call if you would like to discuss what I can do for you to help make your wedding memories everything you desire.
