Wedding Tip Number 12 - Second Lines - Pamela Reed Photography

Second line parades are a big deal in New Orleans.  After your wedding ceremony you and your guests follow behind a local New Orleans brass band, parade and dance through the streets celebrating your recent union.  It is a cool and fun way to incorporate a New Orleans tradition into your wedding.

Don't forget to get parade permits.  You will need to hire the band and a police escort.  Most couples pick up what we call Second Line Parasols or umbrellas custom-made to reflect you two and, of course, don't forget to give all your guests a white handkerchief.  And then get ready to dance and sway to the music as you parade past enthusiastic onlookers as they congratulate you from the sidelines.

It's a fun way to feel like a star!  And don't forget to call us to book your wedding, event or portrait session.
