New Orleans Canvas Magazine Artist Portraits
This past November I had the opportunity to photograph 5 local New Orleans artists. These portraits were for the new quarterly online magazine for and about our local artists. To be able to sit in front of some of the most talented and varied artists out there was a true privilege. Hearing their stories was moving. Emotions ran the gambit from laughing to crying. I now more than ever understand what makes someone a 'real' artist. I highly recommend you follow and subscribe to New Orleans Canvas Magazine. Its free too! Each issue features several artists working in different mediums, a local New Orleans gallery and helpful information for both artists and buyers. Check it out.
A little bit about the following photographs. These are just a sampling of what I found on my memory cards when returning back to my studio. There are some very personal images that I feel highlight all that it is to be an artist. I particularly love the shot of Bruce with his daughter because she looks so serious and he is laughing because I am trying to get her to smile. When you read the interviews in Canvas you will understand even more about these beautiful human beings who create. Here are links to each artist for more information on their creative works and sales. Also a link here for New Orleans Canvas Magazine so you can read more about them.
And I am happy to announce I am the official portrait photographer for New Orleans Canvas Magazine! Can't wait to photograph the next round of creatives! For your own special portraits give me a call at 504-920-8703.
