The Best Times of Day to Schedule Your Portraits and Wedding
I will make this a very quick one.
For me, I am all about the light.
I use flash but also use existing light. There are certain times of the day that are the harshest and the least flattering times for photographs. The time of year does affect the time of day but for the most part 10am - 2pm are the worst times to take photographs outdoors. There are some exceptions but I discuss that with my clients when we are booking, as locations affect timing as well.
If you want the prettiest, most gorgeous wedding photos, go for a morning wedding or portrait session or a late afternoon one.
For my specific style of photography this usually doesn't change except ,as I said before, when a location and vision will dictate time and light.
So book away!
Just don't pick 10a-2p unless you want to face the harshness that the overhead sun will do to your photographs! Below are a couple examples that illustrate how the right light combinations present the most beautiful images.
