A Fun and Romantic Elopement in New Orleans City Park and the French Quarter
Michele and Brian choose New Orleans City Park for their elopement ceremony this year. Reverend Steve Trahan officiated and was quite gracious when I asked that we do it in Popp's Bandstand as it was raining pretty hard.
At the beginning it was a straight down rain, so no big deal as we were under cover.
But...as the ceremony continued the rain came down harder and at an angle. Pretty soon we were soaked but Michele and Brian are very laid back so they were cool with continuing.
We paused mid-ceremony as Brian, ever the nervous groom, forgot his name. Great for laughs!!
Once their vows were done we heard a quiet roar amidst the deluge of rain and looked over at the covered area of Morning Call Coffee Shop to see dozens of people taking refuge from the rain clapping and yelping congrats!
And surrounding us were all the ducks who had come up from the bayou because we are now surrounded by deep water, some almost over a foot deep. We made our way to the coffee shop amid cheers and agreed to reconvene later that evening. Oh, and did I say this was an April Fools Day wedding???
Check out some of the photos! We had a great time despite the flooding rain that required I put the jeep into 4WD to get out of the park. Crazy day and fun wedding!
